Chest Oil and Long Hair Not Required
2/5/2008
If you’ve ever wanted to wear face paint and dance around a ring in neon spandex underwear, then the new wrestling program at Camp Airy is not for you. This is real wrestling, not the over-dramatized choreographed wrestling you see Mondays and Fridays on TV. Watch the Olympics this summer to get an idea of what we’re talking about. Coach Larry Cantor will be leading the program that takes place during the final two weeks of summer. Even though you won’t have fireworks and entrance music, coming up with a wrestling name might not hurt. Head over here if you’re strapped for ideas. If you’re real old school, then you’ll enjoy this song by Macho Man Randy Savage.

Counselor Update! 14 Airy & Louise counselors set record for trip to Israel!
5/29/2007
You may have heard that some of our adventurous counselors will be going to Israel for the first time this summer (don’t worry, they’re still coming to Airy & Louise!). They’re going on the Birthright Israel program that sends young adults on a trip to Israel (This is a special program for those who have never been and are working at a Jewish Summer camp this summer and they will meet the Israeli staff member who will be coming to Airy & Louise!).
14 of our terrific counselors will be participating making this the biggest group attending from one camp! That’s why Airy & Louise are the best! They’ll left for Israel on May 27th and will return on June 6th.
Before they headed out 4 of them decided to write about their deepest thoughts about how exciting their trip will be and what they think it will be like in Israel. 4 Counselors, from both Airy & Louise, wrote detailed journal entries and the Baltimore Jewish Times asked us if they could post up their entries online!
Click HERE to go to the JT’s Web site to read all four journals about their pre-trip thoughts and expectations. When our globetrotting counselors return from their wonderful trip they’ll write one more journal entry that will talk about what their experiences were like (how the people interact with them, differences in customs, food, music, culture, architecture etc.)
We wish all of our counselors a very fun, informative, life changing and safe trip to Israel. They’ll experience so much in just a short amount of time. The best part is when the whole group returns to Airy & Louise this summer, they’ll have tons of great stories to tell all of you! So cool!
A musical straight out of high school
5/4/2007
Get your pipes warmed up and slap on your dancing shoes! This summer we’re going to be performing Disney’s "High School Musical!" Brought to you by the folks at the Camp Airy Drama Department! If you haven’t heard about this musical it’s based on a really popular Disney Channel production. Rave Reviews are predicted as the Airy Guys and Louise Girls are sure to put on a musical production the likes of which Airy hasn't seen before. It will be the smash of the summer.
If you’re interested in becoming a part of the play we will hold auditions at both Airy & Louise on June 26th. Only 4 weekers can audition as it takes almost three full weeks to pull off this high-energy musical extravaganza. High School Musical will be performed at Camp Airy - Stay tuned to these Blogs because it won't be too long before we announce Louise's production for the first four weeks. And break a leg!
ATTENTION: MONDO HUGE NEWS:
3/14/2007

Know where the tennis court is before you head up the hill? Some of you might know what I’m talking about. We were thinking about some other things you could do with a tennis court. After some discussions we came up with the idea to make the tennis court a little more Thrasher friendly (if you know what I mean and if not we’ll explain).
So this summer Camp Airy will be the proud home of a BRAND NEW…
SKATE PARK ! ! !
And we’re taking it big time! Lots of ramps and elements to chose from for campers at any skill level. Bring up your boards this summer! Remember that safety gear will be required at all times. Our friends at SunRamp are building and professionally installing all the ramps and equipment for us. Go HERE to find out a little more about their company and what the ramps will look like at the all-new Airy Skate Park.

Two Engaged Airy & Louise Counselors Win Dream Wedding Contest on WMAR TV
2/20/2007
Wow this is a really amazing story. Julie Rogers & Darren Holgate both met while working at Camp Airy & Louise several summers back as counselors. Julie and Darren really hit it off and fell in love. Darren, who is from England, later asked for Julie’s hand in marriage. He moved to the United States to be with her - now that's love!!
Julie and Darren recently entered a contest to win a dream wedding worth over $20,000 and to be held at the Tremont in Baltimore City. Local Baltimore TV station WMAR – ABC 2 held the contest on their Good Morning Maryland show where several couples tell the viewers why they deserve a dream wedding (Live on air). Viewers could then go online to vote for the couple that they felt really deserved the wedding. Julie and Darren made it as Finalists! We voted for you too!
Well guess what!?! They won the contest!!!! Mazel Tov Julie and Darren! We wish you many years and happiness and health - not to mention lots of little Airy and Louise campers for the summers to come!
Ravens Training Camp This Summer!
2/19/2007
Last summer busloads of Airy dudes and Louise ladies headed up to McDaniel College in Westminster to see the black and purple clad warriors train before the big season. It was really awesome! They had inflatable obstacle courses and a quarterback toss (and a huge snack stand) and the players signed tons of autographs, not to mention one camper’s iPod! Now that’s iDedicated!
We would like to let you know that we’ll be back up at Ravens Training Camp again this year! It’s going to be tons of fun at McDaniel College and hopefully our loud cheers will get them super pumped and psyched for the season and take them all the way to the Super Bowl!!!
Videos are up!
2/6/2007
We had a great time at the camper roller-skating reunion at the Supreme Sports Complex in Columbia, Maryland at the end of December. For those of you that made it out you might recall that we had a video camera rolling around to get some awesome footage. We posted it up here on the site so everyone could check it out! Some of our campers have some really fancy footwork on wheels. (The most recent version of QuickTime is needed).

When Is It a Good Time To Have Snakes In Your Camp?
2/6/2007
Summer time is a great time for snakes and reptiles at Camp Airy! We’re really happy to tell you that we’ll have Bwana Jim coming to Camp Airy and Louise with his amazing wildlife show.
Mr. Bwana Jim has actually been to Airy & Louise before. About two years ago he came out with his big RV with lots of animals and reptiles and gave us all a bit of a fright (in a cool and educational way). He’s an expert on all things nature, animal and reptile related. He travels all over the country doing shows and teaching lots of kids about reptiles and animals. Can you image a drive from Pennsylvania to Camp Airy with an Alligator in your car? That's what he's doing!
You can find out more about Bwana Jim here. He’ll be up at Airy & Louise on June 28th
Looking iGood
1/22/2007
So one big thing you might notice soon this year is that we have an all-new theme for Summer 2007. We are pumped about it to say the least. Last year we had the “Generate” theme that was on the web site and brochure as well as the ads - not to mention those very cool t-shirts!! Read all about our inspiration for the iCamp theme in the December issue of Chatter.
The iCamp theme for this year is also in our brochure, on the site, and it will even be in our ads. That’s a good reason to keep a watch out for our brochure and ads because you never know who will be in them. Maybe someone you know? Maybe even you!
I Found It!
1/22/2007
