Meet Our Director

Rick Frankle
Director, Camp Airy

Rick Frankle brings 35 years of experience in working with children in schools and camp settings to his role as Director of Camp Airy. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Rick earned a BA from Western New England College as well as an MA in Educational Technology Leadership from The George Washington University. He began his teaching career in 1979 with the Howard County Public School System where he has served as a US History Teacher, a resource teacher for the Gifted and Talented Program, and as a computer specialist ever since. In 1987, the Howard County Chamber of Commerce named him as their "Outstanding Educator."

Rick's experience at Camp Airy began in the 1960's as a camper and later as a member of the Counselor-In-Training program. His mother Reva, a former Louise camper, brought her family to Camp Airy when she decided to work as a nurse in the camp infirmary. In 1974, Rick transitioned from camper to camp staff member. As a member of the Camp Airy staff, he served as a counselor, unit leader, swim department head, and assistant director. In the fall of 2001, Rick was appointed to the position of Camp Director.

Rick is a member of Beth Israel Congregation in Owings Mills where he currently serves as an officer and member of the Executive Board. Rick's wife Pam is a Camp Louise alum and has worked in various capacities at Camp Airy. His son Seth is an Airy unit leader and daughter Hilary is a Camp Louise counselor.
