“Quit Playing Games . . .”

… with my heart, unless the game is HUMAN ANAGRAMS! Gameshows have been a key part of fun and games at camp for a long time. We’ve played the classics – Family Feud, Who Wants to be a Million-Airy and Jeopardy come to mind. We’ve played Let’s Make a Deal and Minute to Win It. Our birthday celebration schtick was inspired by Wheel. Of. Fortune. We’ve done a few different Shark Tanks.

Every camp has its things … and one thing at Airy is Human Anagrams. Pictured today are some of our CITs holding up letters. In this game it’s a cross of spelling and trivia. Each team has 27 tiles … 26 letters of the alphabet, and one blank. Teams race to answer a question first with correct spelling. Last night, the questions posed to the CITs had the answers: AUGUST OLYMPIC GENERALS.

Suspense and intrigue followed. We announced the two Airy Olympic Generals for August 2021 – Guppy and Will. Then, the crowd erupted in cheers and applause. In the days to follow, we will assign teams and colors, and then on Wednesday next week we will have our opening ceremonies. And no, for the record. I was never a General.
