VIT 2019!
There are lots of important people around camp that we recognize and celebrate. Tonight it was time for the trainees to get the spotlight at our Very Important Trainee (VIT) event. We are so proud of our Trainee Division:
STs (Senior Trainees) – rising 10th graders
CAs (Counselor Assistants) – rising 11th graders
CITs (Counselors-in-Training) – rising 12th graders
The trainees from Airy and Louise gathered tonight in the Louise Dining Hall for their VIT event. There was talk about their upcoming overnights. There was dancing and eating and hanging out together and more dancing and eating!
Being here with the 2019 trainees makes us reminisce about our days when we were trainees at camp – back in the day. Times were different then. No VIT events, one overnight only for CITs, blaring tunes from Madonna, the Beastie Boys, B52s, and New Kids on the Block…..well, maybe some things haven’t changed.
Our fashion styles may have looked a little different too. But underneath the acid washed jeans, oversized flannel shirts and big, wavy hair (for both of us!) – the friendships are the same. We remember being trainees, and later being unit leaders for the trainees, and now as Directors overseeing units of trainees – it’s hard not to smile at the memories, and we are eager to see how the trainees glow and grow over the next several weeks (and next several summers).
And now back to the dance … is that Janet Jackson?
