Today’s Picture

There may not be a more perfect picture for the first day of a Camp Airy summer. The pizza bagel and curly fries opening lunch is always a crowd pleaser. It is a tradition.

As Airy kicks off the summer of 2015 – our 91st – we embrace many proud traditions while ushering in new ideas as well. Our boys walk the hill. Our CITs bring so much “ruach” to opening day activities. Our camp community winds down each evening with the “Goodnight Song” and “Taps.”  And the pizza bagels!

At the same time, the baseball field boasts a new backstop, outfield fence and two batting cages. A multimedia department orchestrates “lip dubs” and “film festivals.” And there is the beautiful new playground on Village Row.

One aspect of camp embodies both tradition and newness – welcoming new people to our Camp Airy family. We know that Airy is special because of its people. When a family makes a choice to send a camper to Airy for the first time, we are flattered. We want campers to finish the session loving something new. Today on opening day, I know that our people smiled and shook hands, reminding everyone of why Airy is a unique and special place.
