will you marry me-A Surprising Fireworks Display At Camp Louise

The original plan for tonight was a dance and fireworks at Airy. Due to the weather forecast, we had to make some changes to the schedule. We all gathered in the Dining Hall for a spirited Sing-Along, some silly and interactive Theater Sports, and a great Scavenger Hunt. The rain certainly did not dampen our spirits or our fun!

At the end of the night, the lights were turned out and there was a little faux firework display with the help of hundreds of glow sticks! But wait, that wasn’t all.

Unbeknownst to a very special staff member, plans were in the works. This was more than faux fireworks. After the music ended and the last glow stick was thrown, the sheets were unfurled and the words glowed in the darkness…

2016

Our very own Senior Camp Division Head was being proposed to by her very thoughtful and creative boyfriend – now fiancé.  As Sara made her way to the front of the Dining Hall, there were oooohs and aaaahs and even tears of happiness from campers and staff.

Campers commented that it was “such a special night…it was so cute…OMG…it was happening right in front of me.” One CIT told me that she has never experienced anything like this – to which Sara chimed in, “You and me both!”

Sara was beyond thrilled, saying “It couldn’t have happened in a better place. This is my family, my home.” She loves that her now fiancé fits right into her camp life.

We joked that since they got engaged at camp, we are ALL invited to the big event!  But seriously – We wish the couple a huge MAZEL TOV and a future filled with good health, lots of love, and abundance of happiness!

Definitely a night to remember here at Camp Louise…

Today’s Weather

High: 83°F | Low: 67°F – Rain, rain, rain – which definitely cooled things down here at camp.  It now feels breezy and great!
