LOUISE LENDS A HAND – TAKE 2

“Come to my PhilanthroParty: Save the World”

“You are invited to my PhilanthroParty. Save the World One Party at a Time”

“You have been invited to raise awareness for our climate changing earth! Save the Polar Bears!”

These are some of the invitations our campers created this evening at this summer’s second Louise Lends a Hand PhilanthroParty.  If you missed our first one of this summer, read about it here – https://www.airylouise.org/newsfeed/directors-blog-june-30-2018/

For many years, we have done a variety of service projects on the evening we call Louise Lends a Hand. This year we were inspired by Lulu Cerone’s website http://www.lemonaidwarriors.com/ to do something that will not only serve immediate needs, but also build the giving capacity of our whole community.

Tonight every camper, from Rookies to CITs, got to help put together tuna noodle casseroles that we will donate to a church food pantry in Sabillasville, MD right near camp. Though many of our girls seemed unfamiliar with the concept of tuna casserole and our Israeli staff really didn’t know what to make of it, the director of the food pantry (a sweet 90+ year old lady who has been doing this for over 50 years) told us the casseroles would be welcomed by the families who rely on the food pantry.

When they weren’t making casseroles, campers played games and learned techniques for making a fabulous PhilanthroParty at home. Our STs (Senior Trainees – rising 10th graders) led discussions with Senior Camp (rising 7th – 9th graders) about how to choose the cause or charity they might want to support with a home PhilanthroParty. Don’t be surprised if your camper comes home and asks what causes you feel passionate about so that she can throw a PhilanthroParty.

Check out this video of the most adorable little girl who threw her own PhilanthroParty to raise money for a cause that is important to her!

Look out for the cup that your daughter will bring home to remind her of Louise Lends a Hand. It even includes the 3 steps to throw her own PhilanthroParty!

You have to admit – we do good work here!  Now, let’s take that good work out into the world!
