Shabbat Shalom, Camp Louise!

Community – that is what camp is all about!  This is a BIG topic of conversation for us at Camps Airy & Louise!  We want to make sure that our campers, staff, families, and everyone who walks through our gates feel welcome!

We greet each other with smiles and waves and genuine conversation.  Through hospitality, we strive to create a place where every member of our community feels valued, included, and welcome!  Once that foundation is built, trust is established, connections are made, friendships are created, confidence grows, and lives are changed!

For many of our new campers (and staff too), camp is a completely new and unfamiliar place.  Some arrive excited, some nervous, and some both – we like to call that nerv-cited.

Showing hospitality helps us all, and we can establish a community where everyone is accepted and embraced for exactly who they are!

Last night we gathered in Jill’s Place for Shabbat services, and we recognized some of the campers who demonstrated our Middah (trait/value) of the Week – hospitality/hachnasat orchim and the importance of it in our camp community.

As these 13 campers were called up to light candles with me, the joy, support, and encouragement they all received from our camp community make me so proud of what we have created here in 21719!

Shabbat Shalom,
Alicia
