Director’s Blog – June 27, 2026
Shabbat Shalom from Camp Airy! Zac & Scott signing on for your weekly blog!
We can’t believe a week has already flown by. We hope you have been enjoying a sneak peak into what’s going on at camp through daily photos, social media posts, and your Unit Leader and Division Head emails. Now it’s our turn!
We couldn’t have asked for better weather up on the mountain. We’ve had fun-filled days of activities, instructional swim, clinics, electives, Unit evening activities, all camp Israeli dancing, and a big Carnival with both Airy and Louise. And we even had time for s’mores (we may have eaten entirely too many)!
As we head into Shabbat the focus shifts to our “middah” (value) of the week. For our first week at camp, the middah is hospitality. It was not hard to see campers and staff demonstrating this middah – whether it was staff welcoming your campers on the first day, campers guiding new bunkmates around camp, or the generosity of the trainees running campteen and going on bunk experience.
During Saturday morning services, we took a moment (as we always do) to recognize nominated campers and staff who embodied the spirit of the middah of the week. These “mensches” (kind, honorable people) are spotlighted in front of all of camp by being awarded certificates, a bracelet naming the value in English and Hebrew, and a photo together with the Mensch mascot doll.
You’ll see this picture as part of this blog post. Congratulations to these mensches!
We wrap up the week with Havdallah and a movie night before heading into Week 2 (how are we at Week 2 already??). Please keep following what’s happening at camp through email updates, Facebook and Instagram posts, and the daily posted photos.
Zac & Scott
