Shabbat Shalom, Camp Louise!

How grateful we are to have had Summer 2026 together at Camp Louise.

Cue the tears!

Actually, the tears started this past week – when we had all of the lasts… the last canteen, the last grilled cheese and tomato soup, the last Shabbat, the last song session and folkdance – you get the picture!  And now tonight – our last Goodnight Song of the season.

So as we pack up our dirty clothes, our arts & crafts projects, our paper plate awards, our newly tie-dyed shirts, our whites (that may no longer be white), our 4 different colored tutus, and all of the mail we received this summer…we are taking home so much more, things that don’t fit in our duffels.

We are taking home strengthened friendships, so many memories, and new skills – like confidence, independence, and resilience, along with the ability to communicate and solve problems – face to face, not through screens.

Our families and friends at home may not recognize the new people we have become.  They may get annoyed or confused when we start every sentence with:  “One time at camp…” or when we say: “You just don’t understand, it’s a camp thing!”

Bear with us.  Have patience.  Give us some time.

We are beyond grateful that we were able to experience Summer 2026 at Camp Louise, and we are crazy sad that it is over.

Like A.A. Milne says: “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

Shabbat Shalom, Camp Louise!
