Shabbat Shalom from Camp Airy!
Two weeks into the session and the vibe on the mountain has never felt better. The weather cooperated in a big way this week, giving us blue skies and warm afternoons that meant more time at the pool, more time on the fields, and fun-filled evening activities. It’s the kind of stretch that makes camp feel exactly like it’s supposed to.
This week’s middah, perseverance, showed up everywhere once you started looking for it. It’s the camper who struck out twice at baseball and got right back up for a third try to hit the game winning double. It’s the kid working through homesickness giving the next activity a shot anyway. It’s a counselor pushing through a long day to make sure their bunk still got the full campfire and s’mores experience, or a camper finally sticking a trick at the skate park after a week of almosts. Perseverance at camp rarely looks dramatic, it just looks like someone choosing not to give up.
The biggest news of the week, and the one everyone’s been buzzing about, is the announcement of our Olympic Generals. The rumors have officially turned into reality, teams have been declared, and you can already feel the energy shifting in the Dining Hall as team cheers are being chanted. Perseverance is about to get a real workout as the generals rally their teams for the competition next week.
As we head into Shabbat and another round of Havdallah and movie night, we’re bracing for Olympics fever to take over camp in the days ahead. Keep an eye out for your Unit Leader and Division Head emails, the daily photo dumps, Campanion microposts, and our usual social media updates.
Shabbat Shalom, and have a wonderful weekend!
