Each week at camp in the summer, we emphasize a value of the week – in Hebrew, a middah. We introduce the middah during Shabbat, and in the week that follows we do our best to carry it out. Further, we look for campers and staff who exemplify the middah, and we recognize them at the next Shabbat. Please help us keep this tradition going by emailing us the names of people who embodied the middah, and describing what was special. The emails are listed below.

Yirah יראה
This week’s middah is Wonder – or Yirah. It means a feeling of surprise mixed with admiration, caused by something beautiful; to desire or be curious to know something. We strive to allow ourselves to be amazed and moved by something – natural beauty, someone’s kindness or selflessness, a triumph previously thought impossible.
