Shabbat Shalom, Camp Louise!

This is one of my favorite times of the week – getting to recognize our campers for demonstrating the Middah of the Week.  This week we focused on honesty/integrity/yosher, and the following campers were nominated to light candles with me:

  • This Unit A camper is always honest when she makes mistakes.  The other day she brought food into the bunk accidentally and when asked who did it, she immediately confessed.
  • Sadly, some Jibbitz have gone missing.  It is quite a mystery.  During the Color Games closing ceremony, someone on yellow team lost a jibbit and this Unit A camper picked it up and passed it across the aisle to ask around and make sure it got to the right owner instead of just taking it for herself.
  • When this Unit A camper got out in gaga, she was honest and got out of the gaga pit without the coach telling her.
  • During Color Games, this Unit B camper wanted to play rope pull, but she was honest and told her counselor she had already participated in a field activity so a friend who hadn’t could participate.
  • Someone offered this Unit E camper canteen after she already had it.  She was honest and admitted to already having it instead of getting another one.
  • Another Unit F camper was honest with her bunk about feeling nervous at the ropes course.  Then she got all the way to the top of the ladder.
  • This Unit F camper is always fighting for the right and fair things, inside and outside of the bunk.  She tells the truth, is never afraid to ask the hard questions, and is a perfect example of integrity which she confidently defines as “doing the right thing when no one is watching.”

We are so proud of all of these honest campers.

Wishing everyone a Shabbat Shalom!

Alicia
