Shabbat Shalom from Camp Airy!

Three weeks in and the mountain still isn’t slowing down. Between Olympic Generals being announced, AiryLou Day and celebrating Un-Birthdays, camp is definitely in full swing. The bunks have settled into their rhythms, and you can tell just by walking around that everyone feels like they belong here.

That feeling of belonging is exactly why this week’s middah, “kindness”, has felt so easy to spot. Kindness at camp rarely looks like one big gesture. It’s a camper saving a seat at breakfast for their CIT. It’s a counselor sitting with a homesick camper during a rest period instead of playing spades. It’s teaching someone how to play a new game, or an older camper walking a younger one to their next activity period so they don’t get lost. None of it makes the highlight reel, but all of it makes camp feel like camp. That’s the kind of community we’re proud of, one where people notice when someone else needs a hand and just quietly steps in.

At Saturday morning services, we recognized this week’s nominated campers and staff for embodying kindness. These mensches earned their certificates, bracelets, and photo with the Mensch mascot, and you’ll see that picture along with this post.

As we head into Shabbat and another round of Havdallah and movie night, we’re already looking ahead to what Week 4 has in store (Olympic cheers are only going to get louder from here). Keep an eye out for your Unit Leader and Division Head emails, the daily photo dumps, Campanion microposts, and our usual social media updates.

Shabbat Shalom, and have a wonderful weekend!
