Another Opening Day here at Camp Louise and it was a great one! The weather was perfect, music was playing on the White House porch, and smiles were in abundance! Our long session campers were enjoying activities while we were helping our new campers get settled in. By mid-morning, we were in full-swing with activity sign-ups, lunch, unit meetings, swim, and a regular afternoon of activities.
How perfect that our Middah (value) of the week is friendship (yedidut). Greeting old friends and meeting new ones – that’s what camp is all about! Check out this picture….how happy are they?! That is pure joy!
Camp is all about friendships. I think about the friends in my life that I have met at camp – some from my camper days and some from being on staff. Some I talk to frequently, and some less so. However long the distance between talks, there is still nothing quite like a camp friend. They seem to just get it. For those of you who went to camp, you know exactly what I mean.
Remember the days of writing good old fashioned letters to a friend and if you wanted to talk on the phone, you had to wait until after 9 PM on a Sunday to make that long distance call? It’s much easier now. Take a minute and send an email or better yet, pick up the phone and call an old camp friend. Reminisce about your camp days. Play the remember-when game. Guaranteed it will put a smile on your face!
Here’s to another amazing week with friends at Camp Louise!

It was a little bit cool and cloudy this morning and then the sun started shining. Another great day here at Camp Louise!
