Middah of the Week

Camp Airy would like to recognize one of its CAs, Adam. He was nominated for the middah “tzedakah” He is volunteering (remotely) this summer with Solutions for Hometown Connections, an organization working with immigrant refugees. Way to go, Adam!

Respect / Kavod / כבוד

This week’s middah is Kavod (honor or respect). There are many ways to show honor and respect to each other, from using someone’s preferred name or pronoun, listening to our elders or teachers, not interrupting each other, and on and on. One of the ways that we show honor and respect while at camp is by being good listeners and an excellent audience when visiting our brother/sister camp for a show, or by being a wonderful host when Camp Louise comes to visit Camp Airy for a dance and fireworks.

Another way we show honor or respect while at camp is by listening closely to instructions during an activity period or to our Unit Leader during an evening program, not only does this show respect to those leading the program, it also shows respect to all of the campers participating in the activity. Kavod is a very important Jewish value and we should work to demonstrate it every day whether we are on the mountain in our summer home, in school or the greater world. Please email us to let us know how you, your parents, or another camper are showing Kavod today.

Please email us to let us know how you or another camper you know is demonstrating the Middah of the Week. Email us at:
